A survey of research directions and scientific results of Ukrainian arachnologists in 2013–2018
Abstract
During the reviewed period, Ukrainian araneologists published 162 scientific papers; of these, 49 articles and monographs were included in international citation databases. Three candidate (PhD) dissertations were defended; the fourth one was prepared for the defense. One genus and 11 species of spiders were described as new to science. Most of the papers were focused on the study of the araneofauna of Ukraine (31%), systematic works accounted for 14% of publications. Other research directions included spider geographic distribution, the influence of anthropogenic factors on the spider communities of natural and transformed landscapes, araneocomplexes of urboecosystems, and the use of spiders in bioindication.
