Academic integrity and publication ethics policy
The editorial policy of the Kharkiv Entomological Society Gazette is aimed at adhering to the approaches of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), ensuring the independence of editorial decisions, the existence of clear procedures for reviewing manuscripts, the objective assessment of the scientific content of an article, and determining its compliance with the requirements of a scientific publication.
Adherence to academic integrity in the work of the editorial board entails:
- compliance with copyright and related rights legislation;
- monitoring of references to information sources when using ideas, developments, statements, and data;
- provision of accurate information about research methods and results, and about the sources of information used;
- prevention of conflicts of interest between editorial board members, reviewers, and authors during the consideration and decision-making regarding the publication of materials;
- objective evaluation of scientific research results;
- adherence to the principle of confidentiality with regard to the content of manuscripts, the results of peer review, and the personal data of authors and reviewers;
- ensuring the transparency and scientific justifiability of editorial decisions.
Responsibility for adherence to academic integrity rests with the authors and reviewers.
If violations of academic integrity are identified in submitted manuscripts, they will not be admitted for further consideration, and their authors will be notified in writing.
All articles are checked for textual borrowings using the specialised software StrikePlagiarism.
Any forms of academic misconduct, including plagiarism, self-plagiarism, fabrication or falsification of data, image manipulation, inappropriate authorship, or undisclosed conflicts of interest, are unacceptable.
In the event of detected violations of academic integrity, the editorial board is guided by the principles of evidence and proportionality of decisions. Possible measures include rejection of the publication, retraction of the article, publication of a correction notice, or notification of the author's institution. The procedure for handling such cases is transparent and documented.
Responsibility for plagiarism lies with the author(s) of the article. Authors whose names appear in the publication share collective responsibility and accountability for the results.
The Editorial Board of the Kharkiv Entomological Society Gazette considers that the ethical aspects of publication are an important part of editorial work and the review process; therefore, it strives in its activities to adhere to and uphold the standards of ethical conduct at all stages of the publication process, and is responsible for publication ethics, drawing on the recommendations of the COPE Code of Conduct – "Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors" and the "Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers."
